Nick Chubb still among best statistical RBs in the NFL despite missing 4 games

Over the last three seasons, Nick Chubb has cemented himself as one of the best running backs in the NFL. Even after missing four games with a sprained MCL, Chubb is once again among the best out of the backfield.

For Chubb’s efforts this season, he was selected to his second consecutive Pro Bowl. As the Browns noted in a release on Monday, Chubb is the first Browns running back named to the Pro Bowl in back-to-back seasons since Mike Pruitt in 1980-81.

“It’s always special to be named in the Pro Bowl,” Chubb told reporters on Wednesday. “I think with it being tougher this year to get in for many reasons, it’s special for me.”

Coming into today’s game against the Jets, Chubb is the top six in several statistical categories.

In just 10 games, Chubb has only registered one rushing yard less than Alvin Kamara following his historic Christmas Day performance. Kamara has played in five more games than Chubb during the 2020 campaign.

Chubb’s league best 5.6 yards per attempt is perhaps the most impressive stat of them all. In games against Baltimore (twice), Tennessee and Washington, Chubb still averaged more than 5.1 yards per carry. Those three teams rank the best in the NFL in yards allowed per rush.

Coming into Sunday’s game against, the Jets rank eighth in the NFL in yards per carry (4). However, New York will be without standout defensive linemen Quinnen Williams.

Chubb will have another opportunity to put together a big game before a key offseason that will include contact extension discussions. Although the Jets have a underrated run defense, the bigger games are still ahead for the Browns Pro Bowl running back.
