For the second week in a row, Browns running back Nick Chubb was one of three finalists for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. And just as happened in the fan voting in Week 2, Chubb finished in second place.
Chubb fell short of the votes needed to top Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook. Chubb ran for 108 yards on 19 carries and scored twice, but that wasn’t enough to overtake a great game from Cook: 22 carries, 181 yards, 1 TD.
Chubb and the Browns did pick up the victory in Week 3, beating Washington 34-20. Cook and his Viking teammates fell 31-30 to Tennessee, remaining winless on the season. Getting the individual accolade would have been nice for Chubb, but we’ll take the team win any day. Chubb did win the honor once in 2019 and was a finalist two other times.
