Nick Castellanos believes Scooby-Doo is a superhero and honestly, he makes a solid argument for it.
Why Castellanos, outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, was talking about Scooby-Doo during MLB All-Star Week, I couldn’t say. However, Castellanos gave the quote of the week ahead of the 2023 Home Run Derby while talking to the media about the famous crime-fighting canine.
According to Wall Street Journal reporter Lindsey Adler, Castellanos’ reasons for believing Scooby-Doo is a superhero are twofold. First, Scooby-Doo is a dog that can talk. Second? He helps people by solving mysteries. Pretty straightforward, but I’m picking up what he’s putting down.
Nick Castellanos on Scooby Doo: “First off, he’s a dog who can talk. So, I think a dog that can talk and can help people by solving mysteries is a superhero.”

This isn’t the first time Castellanos has pitched his Scooby-Doo agenda to the world, as the outfielder has listed the lovable Great Dane as his favorite superhero during a scoreboard segment earlier this season.
Ask the Phillies scoreboard segment: Who is your favorite superhero?
Nick Castellanos: Scooby-Doo.
Brandon Marsh: Batman. "Because he doesn't have a lot of powers. He's just a grinder."
Alec Bohm: My mom.— Matt Gelb (@MattGelb) April 9, 2023
I’m convinced!
