Nick Aldis will play a role at Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.
According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider, the longtime Impact Wrestling star will be at the Monday, Aug. 7 taping of WWE Raw to work as a producer. It is the first of multiple episodes of Raw where he is expected to be in attendance.
This comes after Aldis told K100 with Konnan and Disco that he could not confirm or deny rumors of signing with WWE. He also recently pulled out of upcoming bookings due to a back injury with Dreamwave Wrestling and an event in Puerto Rico.
Aldis was a face of Impact Wrestling (formerly TNA), where he signed in 2008 under the name Brutus Magnus and held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship for eight years. His run also included alliances with Samoa Joe and the New Main Event Mafia in the 2010s.
Aldis had two subsequent returns to Impact Wrestling, in 2017 and 2023 under his real name, the latter of which wrapped up in July when he faced Alex Shelley for the Impact World Championship in the main event of Slammiversary.
In between Impact stints, Aldis was a star of NWA, working as the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion across two title reigns that lasted over a combined 1,300 days. His longest period with the belt went from Oct. 21, 2018, to Aug. 29, 2021, when he dropped the title to Trevor Murdoch.
It will be intriguing to see what kind of impact Aldis makes as a producer with WWE. His role is significantly different from the prominent one he had in the ring with Impact and NWA in the past 15 years, but if he sticks in this spot, he will join the likes of Jaime Noble, Jason Jordan and Adam Pearce in configuring matches for WWE programming. The journey begins Monday night in Minnesota as WWE moves past a busy SummerSlam weekend.
