The NFL Players Association released data Thursday that showed 72 players had (or currently have) known cases of COVID-19 this offseason.
That total was calculated on Friday, July 10.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero pointed out on Twitter that 72 players represent about 2.5% of the players in the league right now.
The players’ union also released information about known cases in NFL cities. Denver has 6.83 daily cases per 100,000 people, according to the data. That represents the eighth-lowest total among NFL cities.
Broncos star outside linebacker Von Miller tested positive for the coronavirus in April. Miller, who also has asthma, tested negative for COVID-19 two weeks after he was known to have caught the virus.
Denver safety Kareem Jackson also tested positive for the coronavirus last month. KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis tweeted on July 9 that Jackson “has been cleared to work out and no longer has Covid symptoms.”
Miller and Jackson were the Broncos only players with known cases.
