NFL.com reveals their prediction for Dolphins’ 2020 MVP

The Miami Dolphins are a tricky team to forecast for in the grand scheme of their individual accolades this season. The team has a new two-pronged rushing attack with new players in the fray. The Dolphins also have a promising young quarterback who could realistically take the reins from Ryan Fitzpatrick on a moment’s notice. Defensively, the Dolphins have a plethora of talent — and any player could splash on any given week.

So, when faced with trying to predict who the Miami Dolphins’ most valuable players are going to be in 2020, there are no shortage of candidates. NFL.com has revealed their choice for the Dolphins’ Most Valuable Player in 2020 — and they took a sound strategy with their selection.

They chose the one variable that should remain constant, no matter what in wide receiver DeVante Parker.

“The Dolphins have so many new pieces this season that it’s almost impossible to project a favorite for team MVP. So I’ll take the more conservative route, and get behind one of the bright spots of 2019. Parker broke out as your classic late bloomer, dropping a 72-1,202-9 line on 128 targets after four years of “first-round bust” talk. No one thinks that anymore, and the Dolphins reaffirmed their faith with a four-year extension last December. Whether it’s Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa delivering passes, Parker is going to eat this season.” – Dan Hanzus, NFL.com

Indeed, no matter who the quarterback is in South Florida, Parker figures to be their preferred target in the passing game. And that should allow Parker the best possible chance to repeat his big breakout performance of 2019 again this season — and provide him with a great chance to live up to this prediction as Miami’s most valuable player. Defensively, the Dolphins have so many weapons; they are going to lean into getting big performances from different players based on where opposing teams are weakest each week. That’s better for team accolades as compared to individual accomplishments — so leaning into Miami’s primary offensive weapon to claim MVP honors for the team is the right move to make.
