The biggest question of the NFL offseason finally has an answer – the Dallas Cowboys are indeed sticking with Dak Prescott and will make a new deal with their franchise QB official on Wednesday.
The new deal is a 4-year, $160 million deal with $126 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That guaranteed money is a NFL record.
Prescott has been the starter in Dallas since he took over for Tony Romo back in 2016, when he lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record in his rookie year.
He was off to a great start last season until he suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle during a Week 5 game against the Giants.
Prescott’s future with the team was in doubt after that, but Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have done the right thing by locking up their star QB.
Here’s how his new deal shapes up with other QBs:
The highest paid QBs in NFL history now stack up like this:
1. Patrick Mahomes: $45M/year
2. Dak Prescott: $40M/year
3. Deshaun Watson: $39M/year
4. Russell Wilson: $35M/year— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 8, 2021

when Dak got hurt I was so worried it was going to screw up his long-term contract but I think instead it just showed the Cowboys the bleakness of life without Dak Prescott at QB

People once thought Ezekiel Elliott meant more to the Cowboys offense than Dak Prescott.
