NFL Week 8 bold prediction: Nick Foles should prove pivotal as the Bears upset the Saints

Why Nick Foles and the Bears could actually pull off an upset.

The Chicago Bears were not supposed to be this good. In my Week 1 power rankings, they sat at 28th. It seemed obvious to me that they would be picking quarterback prospects Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields or Trey Lance in the draft in April, with the Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles flopping, failing and failing their way through the 2020 season.

But the Chicago defense has made the poor quarterback play a moot point. Foles and Trubisky have been pretty darn bad — and it’s possible these Bears fall apart down the stretch. But it’s not happening in Week 8 when they host the New Orleans Saints, a team that nearly lost to the Detroit Lions and the L.A. Chargers this season. The Saints have no shortage of problems (including a potentially washed-up Drew Brees and a teammate-punching Michael Thomas). It’s possible — and perhaps even likely — we see the Bears upset the Saints on Sunday afternoon. Here’s more on why.
