NFL Week 5: DFS bargains, prop bets, and entirely too much trust in the Jets and Jaguars

A look at Week 5’s most enticing bets, including what surely won’t be a regrettable decision to trust Zach Wilson and Trevor Lawrence.

Week 5 got off and running with a very stupid Thursday Night Football game.

The Rams and Seahawks displayed a performance better suited for last week’s Jaguars-Bengals clash. Matthew Stafford threw a pass where best outcome was an end zone interception. The Seahawks’ fourth-and-two call was lifted from the pages of the University of Illinois’ 1942 playbook. The Rams’ third-and-10 play was somehow worse.

There was a double punt, which caused some consternation but was eventually deemed perfectly legal and fine. Russell Wilson’s fingers were subjected to extra corners, leading to Geno Smith’s revival (and it was good!). A live bird of prey decided to hang out in the stands on some guy’s head.

All in all, pretty good Thursday.

In the end, the Rams left Seattle with a win. The Seahawks are now 2-3 and in danger of wasting another season of Wilson’s prime. Los Angeles is back on track after getting stomped by the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC West remains a meat grinder, whether that’s the relentless offense of Arizona and LA, the occasional brilliance of the Niners, or the unrelenting chaos of the Seahawks. In a just world, they’ll have three playoff teams come January.

Oh hey, speaking of chaos, here are my DFS bargains and prop picks!
