The branches of the NFL’s playoff broadcasts will stretch further than ever in the 2023 season. On Monday the league announced that one of its six wild card games will be broadcast exclusively on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
NBC will be responsible for broadcasting a trio of games on wild card weekend. The Peacock-exclusive game will be the 1:30pm Pacific Time kick on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024. It’ll be preceded by an earlier kick on NBC.
Fans will get their first taste of a streaming-only game on Peacock when the Chargers host the Bills on Saturday Dec. 23. That’ll also follow an NBC broadcast of Bengals-Steelers at 1:30pm Pacific Time.
Ideally for the 49ers they won’t be participating in wild card weekend thanks to a first-round bye, but if they do make the playoffs and play on the opening weekend, there’s a chance 49ers fans will be required to download Peacock in order to watch the game.
