NFL teams making ‘contingency plans’ for training camp locations

NFL teams remain hopeful that training camps will start on time later this summer.

NFL teams are making plans for potential training camp locations, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“What teams are doing right now is basically calling around and making contingency plans just in case,” Rapoport said on NFL Network on Wednesday. “I do know that some teams have been in touch with the Greenbrier in West Virginia, which of course, has hosted a couple different teams for training camps in the past.”

Rapoport also reported that teams who play in states that are slow to re-open might consider practicing at a college’s facility in a nearby state. Teams are also preparing for their facilities to re-open later this summer.

“The league should be coming out with a memo in the next couple days with instructions for teams [on] how and when to potentially re-open their facilities . . . . we should have some sort of answer on facilities there.”

If the Broncos’ facility is allowed to re-open in the coming weeks, the team should be on track to start training camp on time in late July.
