The Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions agreed to a blockbuster trade over the weekend, swapping Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford. It’s the first big move of what should be a busy offseason in the NFL, but it’s not yet official.
Trades can’t be completed until March 17 when the new league year begins. And so Stafford isn’t officially a member of the Rams – yet.
Fans hoping to buy a Rams jersey with the new quarterback’s name on it are out of luck. At NFL Shop, the site is preventing fans from buying a custom Rams jersey with Stafford and No. 9 on it.
To be clear, the NFL Shop doesn’t allow fans to order jerseys with the names and numbers of prominent players on other teams, such as a No. 12 Tom Brady jersey. But with Stafford almost certain to become a Ram, it’s unfortunate that fans can’t order a jersey now.
Waiting another six weeks shouldn’t be too painful, though.
