NFL sets salary cap at $224.8 million for 2023 season

The #NFL has set the salary cap for the 2023 season at $224.8 million (a $16.6 million increase from 2022).

The NFL informed teams that the salary cap for the 2023 season has been set at $224.8 million, as reported by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network on Monday afternoon.

This represents a $16.6 million increase from the 2022 salary cap — which was just $208.2 million — and a $42.3 million increase from the COVID-riddled 2021 season.

According to Over The Cap’s projections, the Atlanta Falcons have over $56 million in cap space for 2023, but that number could go up another $12 million if the team releases quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The Falcons have several players set to hit free agency this offseason, including Kaleb McGary, Rashaan Evans, Lorenzo Carter and Isaiah Oliver. Click HERE to see how the team can add even more cap space in 2023.
