The NFL’s vice president of club business and league events Peter O’Reilly spoke about the success of the 2020 draft even with the dark cloud of the COVID-19 pandemic hanging over it.
“We successfully brought to life the first virtual NFL draft last week, and we are now very excited to work with Cleveland to incorporate some of the innovations and special access from 2020 into our planning for 2021,” O’Reilly said. “We look forward to partnering with the Browns, the city of Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Destination Cleveland to create a memorable celebration of football for such a passionate fan base and community.”
Last year, Cleveland was selected as the host city for the 2021 NFL Draft, which will be the Brown’s 75th anniversary season. Although details are still being finalized, the locations for the event will reportedly be around FirstEnergy Stadium and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The 2021 NFL Draft may be an hour away from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, but the echoes of icons past will be heard in Cleveland as the newest crop of NFL players will enter the league.
