Can You Diggs It?

It speaks volumes that, in the deepest wide receiver draft in memory, Buffalo believed enough in WR Stefon Diggs’ ability to give away its first-round pick to get him from the Minnesota Vikings.

The New York Jets have a middle-of-the-road pass defense and, with an Over/Under of 49.5 yards (-112 Over, -110 Under), Diggs could realistically get most or all of that total covered with one reception from strong-armed QB Josh Allen.

The front office invested in him and there will be pressure on the coaching staff to get him the ball. Take the OVER 49.5 (-112).

In Todd We Trust

The Atlanta Falcons have systematically gutted what used to be one of the NFL’s best running back tandems in Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Todd Gurley has chronic knee problems but has a tendency to come out of the gate stronger than he finishes, so jumping on him early is the route to go. He has an Over/Under of 58.5 rushing yards (-110 Over, -112 Under).

The Falcons came on strong late in the year because they found some offensive balance. They don’t want QB Matt Ryan throwing 50 times a game against a Seattle Seahawks defense ranked 22nd against the run last year.

Take the OVER 58.5 (-110) and watch Gurley go.

Play Some Skip-Hop?

The Houston Texans stunned the football world when they traded WR DeAndre Hopkins and didn’t get a king’s ransom in return for one of the game’s best players. He is going up against a very good San Francisco 49ers defense in his Arizona Cardinals debut, but, with a yardage Over/Under of just 55.5 (-110 Over, -112 Under), it will likely take only three or four receptions to get to 58 yards.

Hopkins hasn’t caught fewer than four passes in any of his last 24 games. Take the OVER 55.5 (-110).

Cam-eo Appearance

QB Cam Newton makes his New England Patriots debut with many wondering if he is going to be allowed to run the ball as often as he did when he was a perennial MVP candidate with the Carolina Panthers.

Newton has never been a light’s out passer capable of consistently posting big yardage numbers, especially in Week 1. His Over/Under for passing yards is 248.5 (-110 Over, -112 Under).

In his last seven Week 1 starts, he has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in six of them and had 236 in the other. When you’ve hit the Under seven straight times, that’s a trend. Eight is enough for me. Take the UNDER 248.5 (-112).
