Before the offseason started, it would have been wild — maybe even stupid — to suggest that Deshaun Watson or Matthew Stafford would actually get traded this offseason.
One quarterback, Stafford, is already on the move. One to go.
Yes, we could witness a second blockbuster, with a Watson trade having the potential to be the biggest in NFL history. That deal would include an absurd number of high draft picks. Naturally, that would shift the dynamics of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Stafford-Jared Goff trade has certainly changed how the draft looks. (I’m of the mind that Goff isn’t good enough to justify the Lions avoiding a quarterback at the top of the draft.)
In our first draft projection of the offseason, we ran through the first round to consider Stafford’s impact — and the potential impact of a Watson trade.
