NFL insiders: Steelers will monitor WR trade market ahead of deadline

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been reportedly getting ready to trade for veteran wide receiver as the deadline draws to its halfway point.

NFL insiders Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler have reported in an article on ESPN that the Pittsburgh Steelers will more than likely monitor the wide receiver market closely as the trade deadline approaches.

Graziano gives his opinion on which prominent wide receivers they would target: “Tennessee’s DeAndre Hopkins and Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk are two veterans who could conceivably become available and might be appealing to the Steelers if their teams continue to lose and fall out of the playoff race.”

What would a theoretical trade for Christian Kirk or DeAndre Hopkins look like?  DeAndre Hopkins was released by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2023 offseason after failing to find a trade partner.  After a slow start to the 2024 season, the 32 year old veteran’s value may only command a Day-3 pick at best.  Christian Kirk, who is also struggling through three games in the season, may also command only a 5th- to 6th-rounder.

Steelers fans will be satisfied to know that Omar Khan’s quest to find another quality wide receiver did not end in San Francisco, but is, in fact, just getting started.
