NFL free agency: Dalvin Cook looking for “significant contract”

It shouldn’t take long for the former Vikings star to find his new NFL home

The Minnesota Vikings recently made headlines this past week when they released perennial pro bowl running back Dalvin Cook. After spending all six years of his career in the Twin Cities, the former Florida State standout is looking for his new NFL home… but he knows his worth.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Cook is going to be in search of a significant contract. He is not likely to give a “hometown discount” to his new employers.

In 2022, Cook played his first full season, starting all 17 games for the 13-win Vikings. He rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as receiving two scores through the air, as he earned Pro Bowl honors for the fourth consecutive season.

Unfortunately, Minnesota’s season ended prematurely when they were upset 31-24 by the resurgent New York Giants in the Wild Card round.

Although it might go without saying, it should be noted the Seattle Seahawks are an unlikely destination for Cook. While I’m sure in a perfect world Pete Carroll would love Cook in the backfield, financially it won’t make sense. Especially considering Seattle’s running back stable is filled with inexpensive, young, talent in Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.
