New England Patriots legends Tom Brady and Julian Edelman were at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, on Saturday to watch the Orange play the North Carolina Tar Heels, and ESPN cameras caught an interesting interaction between Edelman and the soon-to-be free agent QB.
Brady is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 18th, and football analysts and fans have spent the last few weeks debating where Brady could land for the upcoming 2020 NFL season. Will Brady return to New England for his 21st season with the Patriots? Could he leave the only football home he’s ever known to join a QB-needy club like the Chargers or Raiders? Is the 42-year-old contemplating retirement?
According to Edelman, Brady is coming back to the Patriots. Edelman said “he’s coming back” as the courtside camera recorded the pair, and Brady only smiled and looked at his longtime teammate. Brady then shook his head and said something in response, but fans aren’t exactly sure what Brady said.
“He’s coming back, he’s coming back.”

The two most popular options on social media are “this guy” or “he’s not,” and the implications of those two responses have fans divided. Patriots fans seem sure that Brady said “this guy” – but is that just wishful thinking?
Wait, after Edelman says “he’s coming back” does Brady say “he’s not”? That one hurt pic.twitter.com/c8wEITSym9

We’ve seen Edelman say, “He’s coming back, he’s coming back!”
Does Brady say, “He’s not” at the end of this clip?

As a Syracuse alum, it’s my duty to further investigate the video of Tom Brady and Julian Edelman at today’s game.
After Edelman says “he’s coming back”
Brady not only stares daggers into Edelman’s soul, but also shakes his head and appears to mouth: “He’s not.”

Narrator: “Although social media went into a frenzy trying to read lips and interpret body language on that fateful Saturday afternoon…it ultimately meant nothing at all…
…in the end, Tom Brady still decided to……”
