It’s March 28th, which means that Falcons fans will spend the day being reminded of the time Atlanta blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI. With 8:31 remaining in the third quarter at NRG Stadium in Houston, Matt Ryan hit Tevin Coleman for a six-yard touchdown pass, and Matt Bryant made the kick to give the Falcons a 25-point advantage.
What followed was the wildest finish to a Super Bowl in history. The Patriots went on to score 25 unanswered points in regulation, and then won the game in overtime on a 2-yard James White run. Tom Brady finished the game with 43 completions on 62 attempts, 466 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception.
For rival Saints fans, especially, 3/28 is basically a holiday. In New Orleans, Fox 8 is replaying Super Bowl LI on Sunday, just so Saints fans can laugh at the Falcons’ expense.
Happy 3-28 Day.
Can we be serious for a second? It’s great to know that in the middle of all of this, New Orleans can come together and never forget that Atlanta blew a 25 point lead in the SB.
