Getting a quarterback of the future is a priority for many analysts, including myself. Will the Minnesota Vikings approach the NFL draft in the same way? That remains to be seen.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com has the Vikings approaching the draft with an aggressive nature toward the quarterback position. He has the Vikings trading with the Philadelphia Eagles to get up to 10th overall and selecting Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has not been shy about trading draft picks since taking on the job last year. Richardson’s potential as a dual-threat playmaker validates the hefty price Minnesota pays to jump up the board: the 23rd overall pick, a 2023 third-rounder (No. 87) and a 2024 first-rounder. (The Vikings also probably trade down in the fourth round to regain a selection.)
The potential that Richardson has is truly insane. He can throw it a country mile and is very effective and comfortable throwing it down the field. He needs to work out his mechanical issues, but that’s much more fixable than his elite traits and pocket presence.
