NFL draft: Grading the Jordan Addison selection

After the Vikings selected wide receiver Jordan Addison, what grade does the selection get?

The Minnesota Vikings selected USC wide receiver Jordan Addison with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. Adding him to the roster helps bolster the wide receiver corps and will make life easier for Justin Jefferson moving forward.

The one criticism that the Vikings will have to address is passing on both Kentucky quarterback Will Levis and Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker at 23rd overall. They need a quarterback of the future but they didn’t believe enough in those signal callers.

When looking at what grade to give this pick, I look at multiple factors.

  • Who was on the board?
  • Did they get good value?
  • How good is the player?

The Vikings did pass up on two top cornerbacks in Joey Porter Jr. and Deonte Banks, but the top need and value on my big board was at wide receiver and with Addison.

The player himself is excellent. Addison is great in the open field and as a route runner. The big question is if his size of 173 lbs will be a hindrance in terms of his ceiling.
