We’re almost certain that tight end Michael Mayer will become Notre Dame’s latest first round draft pick in April’s NFL draft. Where he ends up going remains the question, however. Last week we shared our colleague Patrick Conn’s latest mock draft that called for “Baby Gronk” to play for “Grown Up Gronk’s” first team.
Today there is a new mock draft out by Todd McShay that has Mayer remaining in the midwest. McShay calls for the Green Bay Packers to select Mayer with the 15th overall pick in the upcoming draft. Here is what McShay had to say about Mayer and the Packers:
“Mayer has a huge catch radius and is a bulldozer after the catch, hauling in 67 balls for 809 yards and nine scores last season. He might be the safest prospect in the entire class thanks to an all–around skill set, and he’d be an instant–impact player for Green Bay.”
As a Chicago Bears follower for my entire life I must say I’d be as equally mad about this happening as I was excited when Cole Kmet’s name was announced back in 2020.

I will say though, Mayer does look really good in green and gold. See below:
