Let’s just get it out of the way. Fans have bias. This is true of every single fanbase even the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk defensive tackle Cam Heyward and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
NFL reporter and analyst John Clayton went on 93.7 The Fan this week and the topic of Heyward and his prospects of making the Hall of Fame. According to Clayton, Heyward is good but “no way” is he a Hall of Famer.
Clayton even went so far as to say that when healthy, Stephon Tuitt is a better player than Heyward.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but Clayton might just be right. When both guys are 100 percent, Tuitt has proven to at minimum be the equal of Heyward on the field. Unfortunately for Tuitt, his ability to stay healthy will always be called into question.
The body of work Heyward is putting together as a defensive lineman is nothing short of remarkable. Is it good enough to get him into the Hall? Unfortunately for so many linemen on either side of the ball, getting the nod is a war of attrition.
Is Heyward going to make the HOF? Let us know in the comments if you think Clayton was right or over the line?
In @JohnClaytonNFL opinion on @937theFan is Cam Heyward a Hall of Famer?: "No. When Stephon Tuitt is healthy, he's better. Heyward a Hall of Famer? Please."
