It took a few weeks but the Atlanta Falcons’ investment in quarterback Kirk Cousins has started to pay off. The team has won three consecutive games over division opponents largely due to an offensive resurgence.
Over the last three weeks, the Falcons have averaged 33.3 points and 429.3 yards per contest. Cousins’ ability to spread the ball around paired with offensive coordinator Zac Robinson‘s use of motion has opened things up for the team’s playmakers.
Wide receiver Drake London has come on strong with 24 catches for 292 and two touchdowns during Atlanta’s three-game winning streak. London is on pace for 1,212 yards receiving yards, which would be the first 1,000-yard season of his career.
NFL analyst Brian Baldinger has been impressed with the Falcons offense and London specifically. Baldinger shared a film breakdown that showed how the team was able to get London open against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6:

“This Drake London has a creativity to his routes and how they use him, which seems a little different because of his size,” said Baldinger as he showed a highlight of London beating press coverage in the red zone by using an inside spin move and then boxing out the defensive back.
“Like right here, he’s got Jaycee Horn on him. He’s trying to press him right here. You just don’t often see that pivot right there. Now he’s got Jaycee Horn on his back like it’s low-post basketball.”
Baldinger went on to compliment Atlanta’s route combinations and praise London’s run-blocking ability. The third-year receiver has 38 catches for 428 yards and four touchdowns in six games this season.
The Falcons will need their offense to step up in Week 7 to keep pace with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have an elite wide receiver of their own in DK Metcalf. Plus, Seattle’s run game is no joke with Kenneth Walker and a young stable of backs.
