NFL analyst Greg Cosell explains what Titans are getting in DeAndre Hopkins

NFL analyst Greg Cosell shared his thoughts on what he believes the Titans are getting in veteran WR DeAndre Hopkins.

On Thursday, DeAndre Hopkins confirmed on social media that he has in fact signed his contract with the Tennessee Titans, completing the team’s biggest splash of the offseason.

This move has instantly revitalized a fanbase that desperately needed a shot in the arm after the way last season ended, and with how things appeared to be going this offseason.

D-Hop’s arrival in Tennessee will undoubtedly help the offense in several different ways, most importantly being the fact that his mere presence should make everybody’s job easier.

NFL Films legend and analyst, Greg Cosell, recently joined the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast” to discuss Hopkins’ decision to sign with the Titans, and he shared his opinion on what he believes Tennessee is getting at this point of D-Hop’s career.

“Hopkins is still a quality NFL wide receiver,” Cosell stated.

”I think he’s a player that you can move around your formation. He lines you inside, outside. I don’t know if teams will view him at this point as someone that you have to double in given situations, I guess we’ll find that out. He’s certainly not a true vertical dimension, but he’s really, really good in the short, intermediate areas. He catches everything. He has a great feel for getting open in zone coverage, understanding where voids are.”

The NFL analyst concluded his statement by saying, “look, he missed, what, six games (eight) last year and still caught, I believe 74 (it was 64) balls. His production has been high, high level for a long time.”

Hopkins finished the 2022 campaign with 717 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. Had the star wideout played all year long, his average of 79.6 yards per game would have turned into a 1,300-yard season.

Considering the receiver position was arguably the team’s biggest question mark throughout the offseason, it’s easy to see why this move has been the morale boost Titans fans desperately needed as we inch closer to the 2023 campaign.
