The NFL’s legal tampering period is about an hour and a half away from starting and with the team needing time to pursue Amari Cooper in free agency, the Dallas Cowboys have placed the exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott.

The “exclusive” franchise tag guarantees Prescott the average of the top-five salaries from NFL quarterbacks, bringing him in around the $33 million he reportedly turned down.
Because the Cowboys didn’t use the tag on Prescott before the new collective bargaining agreement was officially approved yesterday, Dallas lost the ability to use both the franchise and transition tags on Amari Cooper and the quarterback.
