Next Gen Stats behind Aaron Donald’s 100th career sack

Next Gen Stats showed the numbers that led to Aaron Donald’s historic 100th career sack vs. the Cardinals in Week 3.

Aaron Donald was able to record his 100th career sack in Week 3 versus the Arizona Cardinals, becoming the fastest interior defender in NFL history to reach 100 career sacks. Besides the impressive feat he achieved with the Los Angeles Rams, the Next Gen Stats behind Donald’s 100th career sack were interesting to see.

The All-Pro interior defender was able to sack Kyler Murray in the first quarter of the 20-12 win over the Cardinals to achieve 100 career sacks. According to Next Gen Stats, it took 5.14 seconds for Donald to chase down a scrambling Murray to earn the sack.

Donald never gives up on a play, and to prove his ability to provide unrelenting pressure, he traveled 20.5 yards to trip up Murray on the sack. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year joined John Randle as the only player to achieve 100 career sacks that primarily played defensive tackle and he has 10 more sacks than any other player in the NFL since being drafted in 2014.

There’s no doubt that Donald is already considered one of the best defensive players in NFL history. The scary thing is that he’ll have plenty more opportunities to further his legacy and produce insane numbers for the Rams.
