Four-star 2025 edge rusher Bryce Davis changed the entire complexion of the Duke football recruiting class on Sunday when he flipped from Clemson, but he also made some program history in the process.
According to 247Sports, Davis is the highest-rated prospect to commit to the Blue Devils since tracking began in 2000.
Davis, a Greensboro native who plays for Grimsley High School, is the site’s No. 64 player and ninth-ranked edge rusher in the Class of 2025. He’s the third-best prospect from the state of North Carolina, and he becomes the 25th member of Duke’s 2025 class.
Davis initially committed to the Tigers back in July, but On3’s Collin Ginnan wrote that Davis debated between the Blue Devils and the Tigers until the final morning. Three national recruiting experts filed predictions for first-year Duke head coach Manny Diaz to secure the flip over the previous 48 hours, first 247Sports’ Tom Loy on Friday but On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons followed on Saturday.
