New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The New York Yankees (9-12) and Baltimore Orioles (9-12) open a four-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Yankees vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Deivi Garcia is the projected starting pitcher for the Yankees. Garcia will be called up from the alternate site to make his season debut. The 21-year-old right-hander logged 6 starts in his 2020 rookie season, posting a 4.98 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and striking out 8.7 batter per 9 innings.

RHP Matt Harvey is the projected starter for the Orioles. Harvey is 1-1 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9 in 19 1/3 IP over 4 starts this season. The veteran righty has done well to keep hard contact in check and is sporting a 51% ground-ball rate. In a small sample, current Yankee bats own a .522 OPS against Harvey.

  • Money line: Yankees -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Orioles +145 (bet $100 to win $145)

  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Yankees 5, Orioles 4

Money line (ML)

Over the weekend, New York was solid on both sides of the ball in taking three of four from the Indians in Cleveland. Baltimore lost two of three at home to the Oakland Athletics and is just 5-10 over its last 15 games. The Orioles have batted just .226/.287/.390 (batting/on-base/slugging) over that stretch.

Garcia is a bit of a wild card in this play, but the young righty is backed by a good bullpen. The O’s’ early-season relief numbers (3.09 ERA) are somewhat batting-average-on-balls-in-play deflated. The Yankees early-season struggles with the bats (3.6 runs per game) suffer the same problem.

TAKE THE YANKEES -175.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Over has a slight lean, and the YANKEES -1.5 (-110) play might be a decent consideration for bettors looking to save on the wager amount. A split play (part ML, part run line) is also an option as a bit of insurance.

Over/Under (O/U)

On some regression-to-the-mean lean on the Baltimore ‘pen and the New York offense, tag the OVER 8.5 (-120) with just a slight lean.
