Prediction
Phillies 8, Mets 2
Moneyline (ML)
The PHILLIES (-162) have a huge edge in the starting pitching matchup with regular Cy Young contender Nola on the mound against Matz. Both bullpens rank in the bottom 10 of MLB by ERA, but Nola is much likelier to pitch deep into the game and give his team the chance to win.
The Phillies won Friday’s series opener 6-5 and went 12-7 against the Mets (+145) last season. Take the PHILLIES (-162) to win outright, and expect it to happen in rather convincing fashion.
Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
The combination of a Matz start and a Mets bullpen with a 4.83 ERA doesn’t bode well for the visitors in this NL East contest.
Philly also ranks fourth in baseball with a .890 team OPS against left-handed pitching this season, so back the PHILLIES -1.5 (+125) on the alternate line for a more profitable play. Nola’s a good bet to get deep into the game in his home park and limit any damage his bullpen could do.
Over/Under (O/U)
Take the OVER 9 (-110) on a low total. Game 1 of this series saw the teams combine for 11 runs and Matz has given up 13 earned runs himself over his last two starts.
