The New York Knicks (16-10) take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (14-11) Thursday. Tip-off from Target Center is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Knicks vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Tied 1-1 last season

The Knicks and C Karl-Anthony Towns come to the House of Wolves for the first time since his offseason trade to the Big Apple. After dropping from 24.6 points per game (PPG) to 20.8 and 21.8 the last 2 seasons, respectively, he’s binging again with 24.8 PPG and a career-high 13.9 rebounds per game. The Knicks covered as 4.5-point road favorites Sunday in beating the Orlando Magic 100-91 — the Under (213.5) cashed. KAT had 22 points and 22 rebounds.

G Anthony Edwards & Co. struggled to gel early on, but the Timberwolves won 6 of the past 7. The latest was a 106-92 victory in San Antonio as 4.5-point favorites Sunday — the Under (214.5) hit. Ant Man had 26 points and shot 3-for-7 from downtown. He’s shooting a career-high 42.4% from distance this season.

Knicks at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 115, Timberwolves 113

Moneyline

I like the KNICKS (+120) in this spot. KAT and Wolves C Rudy Gobert went at each other a lot in practice when they were Minnesota teammates, and KAT is going to pull Gobert out to the perimeter. Gobert will have to respect that because Towns is also shooting a career-high 43.9% from deep. That will open up G/F Mikal Bridges or G Jalen Brunson to drive to the Gobert-less paint; or KAT can just shake Gobert off the dribble.

Against the spread

Since we’re going with the value on the ML, let’s take something a little more interesting. Ant Man is going to do his best to beat his former running mate, and he had his way with the Knicks, averaging 29 PPG and 7.0 RPG in 2 games against them last season. His points prop is at 25.5 and rebounds prop is at 5.5. Let’s scale each back one and SGP  (same game parlay) ANTHONY EDWARDS 25 POINTS + 5 REBOUNDS (+130) for a plus-money profit. He has 5+ boards in 5 of 6.

Over/Under

The Knicks are 5-5 O/U, and the T-wolves are 3-7.

Here’s the thing, though. With this being Towns’ return to Minnesota, the emotion in the building will inspire some back-and-forth up and down the floor. I see the OVER 214.5 (-110) cashing easily. The Over cashed in 2 of the last 3 head-to-head meetings.
