A key part of their hopeful turnaround is the offseason signing of PG Jalen Brunson, who signed a multi-year deal from the Dallas Mavericks. New York finished the year with a 20-21 away record, playing better on the road than it did at home (17-24).

The Grizzlies finished 2nd in the West last season with a 56-26 record behind star PG Ja Morant, who finished 7th in MVP voting in the 2021-22 season. Last season, Memphis went 30-11 at home and 26-15 on the road. Their season ended in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, giving up a 23-7 run to the Utah Jazz over the final 6 minutes of the game. Returning their young core in Morant, PF Jaren Jackson Jr., and SF Dillon Brooks, the Grizzlies will be playing with a vengeance this season with championship hopes. Jackson Jr. is out while Brooks is doubtful.

Memphis is a young, but experienced team while the Knicks still have some work to do with a lot of looming questions coming off a disappointing year. Also, Brunson’s addition doesn’t do much to strengthen them defensively.

With a 30-11 home record last season, the Grizzlies have certainly proven they play well in front of the home crowd. Although they are facing a few key injuries, expect Morant to pick up the slack for an opening-night victory.

Memphis had the best ATS record in the league last season, finishing 59-34-1 while the Knicks finished 17th in the league with a 39-43 ATS record.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 226.5 (-112).

With opening night comes a lot of off-season implementation for both sides. The Grizzlies are playing without Jackson Jr. and Brooks and will look to SF Desmond Bane to knock down key shots while the Knicks will get their first looks with Brunson at the helm.

Last season, Memphis ended with a 47-43-4 O/U, good for 9th in the league, while the Knicks were 22nd overall with a 38-42-2 O/U record.
