New York Knicks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Knicks at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (4-7) welcome the New York Knicks (5-5) to Barclays Center Wednesday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Knicks vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Knicks are coming into this game having won 2 of their last 3, having been destroyed 133-118 at home against the Boston Celtics and then most recently beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-107 on the road.

New York has 4 players averaging in double figures and offseason acquisition G Jalen Brunson has been a top weapon, averaging 19.7 points per game. F Julius Randle leads the team with a 20.1 per-game average.

The Nets are 2-1 in their last 3 and will be without suspended G Kyrie Irving, who is their 2nd-leading scorer. Brooklyn has played all 3 games without Irving.

The home side is led by former MVP F Kevin Durant, who is again looking like a candidate for the award. He is averaging 31 points per game and shooting 52% from the field.

Knicks at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 115, Knicks 111

Moneyline

PASS.

This line, especially the moneyline, stinks. I would pass on the Nets at -155, and the Knicks may be enticing, but should ultimately still be a pass.

Against the spread

LEAN NETS -2.5 (-115).

The Nets are at home and the better team despite being down Irving. It seems the lack of Irving’s presence may boost their chemistry offensively with G Joe Harris getting more opportunities.

The loss of Robinson will cripple the Knicks inside presence, which is an area of weakness for Brooklyn. The Knicks won’t have an answer for Durant either as they sit 18th in defensive rating.

Turnovers could be a big factor in this game as well, and it is an area where the Nets are superior, ranking 7th in turnover rate.

Over/Under

BET OVER 220.5 (-110).

Simply put, both teams are good at offense and bad at defense. The Knicks sit 6th in offensive rebounding rate while the Nets are last in defensive rebounding.

Durant should be able to keep the Brooklyn offense alive, and players like G Seth Curry and Harris have the skill to create for themselves as well. As noted, the Nets don’t turn the ball over either.

Brooklyn will get shots up, and the Knicks will get ample 2nd-chance opportunities. New York is 5-4-1 O/U while Brooklyn is 3-3 O/U at home.
