New York Jets Super Bowl odds: Fans can dream, can’t they?

Assessing the midseason 2020 Super Bowl futures odds for the New York Jets, with a look at their chances of winning the AFC East.

Through Week 8, the New York Jets (0-8) are the NFL’s only winless team. They’re well back of the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills (6-2). On the bright side, they’re only 2 games back of the third-place New England Patriots (2-5).

Below, we analyze the midseason New York Jets 2020 Super Bowl odds, odds of winning their division as well as NFL futures and opine on whether they’re worth a Super Bowl futures bet at this time.

It’s no surprise the Jets have the longest Super Bowl odds at +500000. The New York Giants (1-7) and Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) are next in line at +100000 each. At the start of training camp, the Jets were tied with the sixth-longest odds at +8000.

New York has been outscored by a league-high 144 points, an average of 18 points per game. The Dallas Cowboys (2-6) are the next closest in point differential at minus-81 points.

The closest game the Jets played was two weeks ago at home in an 18-10 loss to the Bills. The Jets lost at home to the Denver Broncos 37-28 in Week 4, the only game New York scored more than 17 points.

Otherwise, the Jets have lost every game by 10 or more points. The real bad losses include a 36-7 blowout at the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3, a 24-0 shutout at the Miami Dolphins in Week 6 and a 35-9 defeat at the Kansas City Chiefs last week – as a 19.5-point underdog.

The Jets are last in scoring (11.8 points per game), last in total yards (259.0 yards per game) and last in passing yards (155.9 YPG).

The defense ranks 28th in points allowed (29.8 PPG) and 29th in passing yards allowed (282.8 YPG).

QB Sam Darnold, who missed 3 games due to injury, has completed 58.6% of his passes for 1,045 yards and 3 touchdowns with 6 interceptions. Joe Flacco (51.9%, 397 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) started the 2 games Darnold missed.

RB Frank Gore has a team-high 340 rushing yards with no touchdowns. WR Jamison Crowder has played only four games due to injuries, yet he leads the team with 383 receiving yards – with 2 touchdowns.

The Jets are 1-7 against the spread with a 3-5 O/U record.

Jets division betting odds

  • Bills -625
  • Dolphins +600
  • Patriots +1100
  • Jets +100000

This is a two-team race between the Bills and Dolphins. Buffalo won at Miami 31-28 in Week 2. They’ll hook up again in Buffalo in the regular-season finale.

The Jets have already been swept by the Bills and lost once to the Dolphins. They still have two games with New England and the second of the two-game series with Miami.

The real question is: Will they win a game?

The remaining non-division games are home tilts with the Las Vegas Raiders (4-3) and Cleveland Browns (5-3), and road trips against the Los Angeles Chargers (2-5), Seattle Seahawks (6-1) and Los Angeles Rams (5-3).

Jets futures picks and predictions

NO, there’s no chance the Jets make the playoffs. An 0-16 record is way more likely.
