The New York Jets (4-11) and Buffalo Bills (12-3) meet Sunday. Kickoff from Highmark Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (CBS).  Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Jets vs. Bills odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Jets are struggling down the stretch, losing 5 of their last 6 games. In Week 16, they fell 19-9 to the Los Angeles Rams, failing to cover as 3-point road underdogs. The Under 47 cashed. Despite outgaining Los Angeles 321 to 242, a key turnover proved costly. S Kamren Curl strip-sacked QB Aaron Rodgers, giving the Rams possession on the Jets’ 21-yard line, leading to the game-winning touchdown from QB Matthew Stafford to TE Tyler Higbee.

The Bills have won 9 of their last 10 games, including a 24-21 victory over the Patriots in Week 16. They didn’t cover as 14-point home favorites, and the Under 47.5 cashed. Despite trailing 14-7 at halftime, Buffalo forced 3 turnovers in the second half, highlighted by CB Taron Johnson’s fumble recovery in the end zone. RB James Cook led the way with 126 total yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 rushing and 1 receiving.

Jets at Bills picks and predictions

Prediction

Bills 34, Jets 20

Moneyline

PASS.

The Bills (-500) will lock up the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs with this victory Sunday at home over the Jets. But I won’t bet 5 units to win 1, I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET BILLS -10 (-110).

Buffalo had a bit of a scare against the Patriots in Week 16, but they won’t be taking the Jets lightly. With playoff positioning on the line, the Bills will want to finish strong before Week 18. They’ve won 7 of the last 10 matchups, including a close 23-20 win in New York earlier this season. At home, they’ve been on fire, winning their last 4 by a combined 61 points and covering the spread in the last 2 meetings with the Jets.

Buffalo has covered in 4 of their last 6, while the Jets have failed to cover in 4 of their last 6. New York’s offense has been better lately, averaging 23 points per game (PPG), but their defense is still giving up 26 PPG, which has kept them from winning. With Rodgers and Davante Adams mostly focused on personal milestones, the Jets lack the focus to compete.

Over/Under

BET OVER 46 (-110).

The Bills average 31.3 PPG, the 2nd most in the NFL, while the Jets are at just 19.5 PPG. Even if both teams hit their averages, they would exceed this total by nearly 5 points. Buffalo’s defense has struggled recently, allowing 35.6 PPG over their last 3 games.

Allen will look to put this game away early, while Rodgers and Adams for the Jets will likely focus on padding their stats in the second half, with Rodgers just 1 touchdown away from 500 career TDs. It’s supposed to rain, which could complicate things, but I Still expect plenty of points on the board in this one.
