New York Giants Super Bowl odds: You’re saying there’s a chance?

Assessing the midseason 2020 Super Bowl futures odds for the New York Giants, with a look at their chances of winning the NFC East.

The New York Giants (1-7) are in last place in the NFC East, which is considered the NFL’s weakest division as all four teams are under .500. The Philadelphia Eagles are first at 3-4-1, followed by the Washington Football Team (2-5) and the Dallas Cowboys (2-6).

Below, we analyze the midseason New York Giants 2020 Super Bowl odds, odds of winning their division as well as NFL futures and opine on whether they’re worth a Super Bowl futures bet at this time.

Only one NFL team has longer odds than the Giants’ +100000. The winless New York Jets (0-8) are listed at +500000, while the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) have the same odds as the Giants at +100000. The Giants were +10000 at the start of training camp.

After starting the season 0-4, the Giants have played much better. They blew a 3-point, fourth-quarter lead at the Cowboys as Dallas kicked two field goals in the final 1:56 for a 37-34 Week 5 victory.

The Giants would get their first win of the season the following week, beating Washington 20-19 at home. That W seemed to give the G-Men some confidence and momentum as they held an 11-point, fourth-quarter lead at the Eagles in the Thursday Night Football game of Week 7. It wasn’t meant to be as Philly scored the final 12 points, including a game-winning, 18-yard TD pass with 40 seconds left.

In the recent Monday night game, the Giants lost 25-23 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after leading 14-6 at the half.

For the season, QB Daniel Jones has completed 61.8% of his passes for 1,666 yards and 7 touchdowns with 9 interceptions. His top receiver has been second-year pro Darius Slayton (485 yards, 3 TDs).

Jones leads the Giants in rushing with 316 yards but hasn’t found the end zone. Devonta Freeman (172 rushing yards, 1 TD) and Wayne Gallman (154 yards, 2 TDs) are the only other Giants with more than 100 rushing yards.

The Giants are doing OK when it comes to covering the spread, going 5-3. They’re 3-5 vs. the Over/Under.

Giants division betting odds

  • Eagles -239
  • Washington +350
  • Cowboys +750
  • Giants +1600

If the Giants could have only held on in that Cowboys games, things would probably be different, especially with the first-place Eagles only 3-4-1.

Each team has played each division rival once so far. The Eagles are 2-1 with wins over the Giants and Cowboys. Washington is 2-1 with wins over Philly and Dallas, which is 1-2 with its lone NFC East win vs. the Giants.

The division is still up for grabs for whichever team plays the best in the second half of the season.

The Giants could know where they stand after the next two games: at Washington Sunday of Week 9 and home vs. Philadelphia in Week 10. They close with the Cowboys at home in Week 17.

Giants futures picks and predictions
