New York Giants at Washington Football Team prop bet picks and predictions

Analyzing the New York Giants at Washington Football Team Week 2 matchup and offering up expert picks and predictions on the top player prop bets.

The Washington Football Team (0-1) host the NFC East rival New York Giants (0-1) on Thursday Night Football to open Week 2 of the NFL season. Kickoff will be at 8:20 p.m. ET at FedExField. Below, we look at the Giants vs. Washington prop bet odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Both teams took a loss on their home field last week. Washington fell 20-16 to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Giants were handed a 27-13 loss by the Denver Broncos. The Giants won both of last year’s meetings by scores of 20-19 and 23-20; however, it was Washington that represented the NFC East in the playoffs with the division title.

Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a hip injury in Week 1, leaving backup Taylor Heinicke to make his first regular-season start for the home team. He went 26-for-44 for 306 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception in Washington’s NFC Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in January.

Giants WR Kenny Golladay OVER 3.5 receptions (-161)

Golladay debuted for Big Blue last week with 4 receptions on 6 targets for 64 yards against the tough Broncos secondary. He draws a slightly easier matchup this week; however, life will be no easier for Giants QB Daniel Jones against the vaunted Washington pass rush.

Less time in the pocket will further limit Jones’ chances for deep balls and New York will need to slowly progress down the field in order to score Thursday. It’s also a bad matchup for Giants RB Saquon Barkley, so expect an abundance of shorter passes from New York and a slightly bigger role for Golladay after finishing third on the team in targets last week.

Washington TE Logan Thomas OVER 47.5 receiving yards (-122)

Thomas caught all three of his targets for 30 yards last week, including a third-quarter touchdown with Heinicke running the offense. The 6-foot-6 tight end was also a favorite target of Heinicke’s in last season’s playoff game, with 5 receptions for 74 yards on 9 targets.

Broncos TE Noah Fant caught 6 balls for 62 yards against the Giants last week and TE Albert Okwuegbunam scored a red zone touchdown.

Washington QB Taylor Heinicke OVER 22.5 rushing yards (-132)

Much like Fitzpatrick, Heinicke rarely shies away from trying to create plays with his legs. He ran 3 times for 17 yards in limited action last week and had 46 yards and a touchdown on 6 attempts against the Bucs in the playoffs.

This is a very modest line for a full game with Heinicke under center and especially with New York’s tough secondary guarding against anything deep.
