The Houston Texans (1-1) welcome the New York Giants (1-0) to NRG Stadium for a preseason battle Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Giants vs. Texans odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.
The Texans, who were among the surprise teams in 2023 and made the playoffs, beat the Steelers 20-12 in their 2nd preseason game after beating the Bears 21-17 in the 1st game. Starting QB CJ Stroud played a drive and had a touchdown against the Steelers, but QB Davis Mills led the team with 89 yards. Houston is 1-1 against the spread (ATS) in the 2 games. Although Houston didn’t have a 1st-round pick, it did strengthen its defense by taking CB Kamari Lassiter with their 1st pick at No. 42.
The Giants have only played 1 preseason game, beating the Lions 14-3 at home on Aug. 8. New York will be led this season by QB Daniel Jones, but QB Tommy DeVito was the most used option and ended with 92 yards. Unfortunately for Giants fans, an injury 6th overall pick WR Malik Nabers will likely mean he’s sidelined for the preseason. New York is 1-0 ATS in the preseason.

Giants at Texans picks and predictions
Prediction
Texans 20, Giants 13
Moneyline
PASS.
The Texans are rightfully the favorite here, and the 3-point spread insinuates this would be a pick ’em on a neutral field. Considering who the Texans should give action to in this battle, avoid their moneyline and take their spread for the better value.
Against the spread
BET TEXANS -3 (+100).
The Texans have a slew of quality backup options, many of which have been starting options for periods of their career. On top of that, Stroud could see multiple drives or even play a quarter. Mills and QB Case Keenum have both played well in the preseason, neither having an interception.
The Giants don’t quite have as much playmaking in DeVito and QB Drew Lock, neither of which have shown much at the NFL level. While they won and covered, it was against a weaker Lions side without many starters and at home.
Take the home side and back TEXANS -3 (+100).
Over/Under
BET UNDER 39.5 (-110).
The Giants, although not many Lions starters played, did give up just 3 points in their lone preseason battle. They scored 14, so not overly impressive either.
The Texans have scored 20 or fewer in both games and would’ve gone Under this total in both as well. With those trends in mind, take fewer points and back UNDER 39.5 (-110).
