There are quite a few tackle prospects in the upcoming 2023 NFL draft, and it’s no secret that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking for one to replace Donovan Smith.
USA Today’s new mock draft from Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz on Saturday is understanding of this trend as well, as the mock has Tampa Bay selecting Oklahoma LT Anton Harrison with the No. 19 pick.
Here is what the mock had to say about the potential pick:
In bringing in Baker Mayfield to compete with Kyle Trask to be Tom Brady’s successor, the Buccaneers appear have telegraphed a patient approach to a rebuild. If Tampa Bay is going to wait at least a year to make a big investment for its quarterback of the future, it would be wise to bring on a left tackle like Harrison to elevate pass protection and allow Tristan Wirfs to remain on the right side.
This pick wouldn’t be a surprising one for the Bucs, as the team has already brought Harrison in for an official visit. The team clearly was interested enough to want to meet him in person, so it stands to reason that he’s definitely on their draft board — and should some of the bigger names like Paris Johnson and Broderick Jones come off the board before Tampa Bay picks, Harrison would be a strong option for the Bucs.
