New Trojans Wired podcast evaluates USC’s tenuous bubble position

When you lose to Oregon State, your bubble position becomes a lot more perilous. @IanHest produced the show.

The USC Trojans really stepped on a rake. They stepped in mud. They slipped on a banana peel. They tripped over a rock. They blew it. They lost to Oregon State and squandered what was a very favorable bubble position. USC went from being a No. 10 seed with some margin for error to a team that is right on the cut line for the NCAA Tournament, and has to stack wins over the next three weeks.

USC’s lack of quality shooters caught up with the Trojans. Now this team has to bounce back and avoid any more resume-damaging moments.

We discussed USC’s new — and worse — bubble position while also examining the larger Pac-12 bubble picture, comparing the schedules of the other teams USC is competing with for an at-large bid: Utah, Arizona State, and Oregon.

The Pac-12 really could get only two teams into the NCAA Tournament. It’s up to USC to make it three, but the path to that goal just became a lot more difficult.
