It is officially fake trade season around the NBA as the offseason begins to really come into focus. For the Philadelphia 76ers, that means a lot of trade suggestions focused around acquiring more playmakers and shooters.
In the latest trade suggestion from Bleacher Report, it has the Sixers getting involved in a 3-team deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Philadelphia would be jettisoning two second-round picks to the Lakers while sending Mike Scott, Zhaire Smith, and the 2020 first-round pick to the Thunder.
In return, Philadelphia would be receiving a young piece in Kyle Kuzma as well as Avery Bradley and Talen Horton-Tucker from the Lakers.
B/R on why Philadelphia would do it:
The Philadelphia 76ers don’t lose much while adding a volume scorer on the wing in Kuzma plus a veteran presence in the backcourt in Bradley. To achieve this, the Sixers dump a late first-rounder and a couple of second-round selections they probably weren’t going to use anyway.
Kuzma averaged 12.8 points while shooting 43.6% from the floor for the Lakers this season. His minuted were down to 25 per game and he could be better in a change of scenery playing next to Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. General manager Elton Brand does have s history of moving second-round picks in order to acquire more talent so this could be a move that he at least would entertain.
