The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to evaluate their roster and try and get the team back on the right track after a disappointing 2019-20 season. They have some obvious needs as they need some ball-handling and they definitely need some shooting.
So why not try and grab one of the more accurate shooters in the NBA?
We are deep into trade proposal season as everybody tries to come up with a trade to help the Sixers right now. Over at Bleacher Report, they have come up with a trade proposal between Philadelphia and the Dallas Mavericks. The deal would be Josh Richardson to Dallas for Seth Curry and the 18th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
B/R on the deal:
Curry is one of the most accurate three-point shooters in league history, and he’s long been underrated as a defender. That’s the sales pitch Dallas will have to make to the Philadelphia 76ers if it hopes to extract Richardson in a buy-low move. J-Rich is only a year removed from a killer age-25 season with the Miami Heat in which he averaged 16.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds while hitting a respectable 35.7 percent of his threes.
Now, Richardson does bring more to the table than Curry does. He is a guy who is a very good perimeter defender, he can handle the ball on offense and run a pick-and-roll with either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid, and he is a solid rebounder for a guard. The big thing is, he has a player option for the 2021-22 season so there is a chance that this could be a free agent in the summer of 2021.
Curry, on the other hand, shot a blistering 45.2% from deep for the Mavericks and he is a career 44.3% shooter from beyond the arc. His prolific shooting next to a guy like Simmons who does a terrific job of setting up his teammates from the perimeter is something that should be very attractive for general manager Elton Brand and the rest of the team.
