New Orleans Pelicans hire former Bulls GM Gar Forman to front office role

The New Orleans Pelicans will reportedly hire former Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman to a front office rule with a focus on scouting.

The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly added a former general manager to their front office on Thursday. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pelicans agreed to a deal with Gar Forman, who served as the Chicago Bulls general manager from 2009 until April of 2020.

Also per Wojnarowski, Forman will focus his work in the scouting area under executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin and general manager Trajan Langdon.

Forman was a divisive figure in his time with the Bulls. Despite drafting the likes of Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler but also took much criticism in his time in charge, largely for the team’s failure to field a reliable competitor.

Still, Forman is a respected executive and can bring some experience to a front office in the midst of its rebuild. Clearly holding an eye for talent, Forman can provide the team a boost in the scouting department considering the bevy of draft picks they will have available in the future.
