A new mock draft has come out. This one comes from Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling and it includes some projected trades.
In all, he gives a scenario in which four trades are made in the first round, two of which happen before the Arizona Cardinals make their selection with the eighth overall pick.
The Cardinals, though, stand pat, although the picks made in the trades perhaps affect their selection.
Easterling once again has the Cardinals taking Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb eight overall.
This may surprise some, seeing Lamb come off the board before Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some teams have them graded in that order. One such team could absolutely be the Cards, who would love to pair Lamb with his college quarterback, Kyler Murray. This tandem could make the same kind of magic they did in Norman.
Lamb appears to be a perfect fit for the Cardinals. He would be the first receiver off the board. If the Cardinals wanted an offensive lineman, Georgia’s Andrew Thomas would be unavailable, as he goes one pick before the Cardinals make their pick to the New York Giants, who were one of the teams to make a trade and move down.
Which would be better — the top receiver or second tackle? Of course, that would assume that Thomas is the Cardinals’ highest-rated tackle.
Lamb would look good with Kyler Murray and would make the receiving corp with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk nice and formidable, and it would allow Andy Isabella, Hakeem Butler and KeeSean Johnson to have to compete more for playing time, which should make them better.
