New Mexico vs. UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 89, New Mexico 77

Moneyline

UCLA (-230) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return. For a straight up wager, that’s just a little bit too much. However, as part of a multi-team parlay, it would be perfectly OK to include the Bruins in your ticket.

AVOID, as far as a standalone bet is concerned.

Against the spread

UCLA -5.5 (-110) is a strong play in this neutral-floor battle against New Mexico +5.5 (-110).

While UCLA was super impressive in the opener, it faced a low-level opponent. However, UNM struggled defensively in the opener against Nicholls, and the Bruins should be able to take it to them, especially after wearing them down in the second half.

Over/Under

OVER 152.5 (-115) is the best play on the board in this game.

UCLA did cash low in the opener, but it was good for 85 points on offense, including 10 successful 3-pointers. The Bruins were just 7-of-12 from the free-throw line, and that’s an area where they could make Over bettors pull out their hair.

For New Mexico, it combined for 175 points against a smallish Nicholls team. The Lobos jacked up 7 triples on 36 attempts, hitting just 19.4% from behind the arc. If UNM improves from long distance, that will obviously help the Over.
