The Steelers should have plenty of money to spend in free agency.

According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the projection for the 2022 salary cap is set to be $208.2 million. This is a big bump from the $182.5 million teams had to spend in 2021.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, this means they should go into the offseason with something in the neighborhood of $43.7 million. This number is courtesy of Over the Cap. The final numbers will get some minor adjustments but based on everything I’ve read indicates the number would only go up heading into the offseason.

This lines up well for a Steelers team looking to take the next steps toward a full rebuild in the offseason. There are several guys in-house Pittsburgh needs to get back under contract but even with that, the Steelers should have plenty of money to fill some significant roster holes ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.
