The Nevada Wolf Pack return to action on Wednesday night as they take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels in Las Vegas.
The Wolf Pack and Rebels are meeting on the hardwood for the second time this season. In the first contest in Reno on January 22nd, the Wolf Pack defeated the Rebels 86-72. In that contest, Nevada guard Jalen Harris scored 28 points and had six assists and six rebounds in the Wolf Pack’s victory over the Rebels.
Coming into this second contest against their in-state rivals, the Wolf Pack are coming off a 95-77 victory over San Jose State on Saturday night. The win was Nevada’s ninth straight home victory and also, it was a game where once again guard Jalen Harris scored 30 plus points as he scored 32 points in the win over the Spartans.
Harris has been fantastic for Nevada recently as he has scored 30+ points in four straight games. In the last two games in which Nevada won, Harris has averaged 35 points while averaging 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. His great play in those two games earned him the US Basketball Writers Association Nation Player of the Week.
The Wolf Pack hopes Harris will continue his outstanding play on Wednesday in Vegas against the UNLV Rebels. The Rebels have lost four of their last five games but they did win their most recent contest on Saturday against Fresno State. UNLV’s Marvin Coleman made a jumper with one second left in the game which propelled the Rebels over the Bulldogs 68-67 in Las Vegas.
Amauri Hardy and Bryce Hamilton both scored 35 points in the win over Fresno State as the Rebels win snapped their four game losing streak.
The Rebels are looking to contain the Wolf Pack and red hot scorer Jalen Harris on Wednesday night in Vegas. Will UNLV be able to contain Harris and avenge their loss to the Wolf Pack from last month or will Harris continue his hot shooting and Nevada wins their third straight game?
