Nets’ win over Bucks biggest NBA upset since the 90’s

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team helped make history on Tuesday; only, the Bucks were on the wrong side of it.

Even if the Nets had Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler and Taurean Prince with them in the bubble, the Milwaukee Bucks would’ve entered Tuesday’s game against Brooklyn as the favorites.

Not only were they without those five — on top of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving — Brooklyn also didn’t have Caris LeVert, Joe Harris or Jarrett Allen. And they lost Jamal Crawford after he logged only five minutes of action.

Yet the Nets found themselves on the right side of a 119-116 finish on Tuesday, handing the Bucks a stunning loss.

But, make no mistake, this wasn’t just any old upset.

This was the biggest NBA upset since 1995.

According to Steve Petrella of The Action Network, “the Nets closed at 18.5 or +19 depending on the book” ahead of Tuesday’s game.

The biggest NBA upset since 1995 — prior to Tuesday’s game, per Petrella — came in 1997 when the Nuggets knocked off the Wizards with the spread closed at +17.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the biggest upset before 1995 came on April 6, 1993, when the Mavericks (+19.5) beat the Seattle SuperSonics.
