The Washington Wizards were without Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, but it’s hard to imagine the pair could’ve done enough to slow down Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the Brooklyn Nets’ first preseason game on Sunday. But while Brooklyn’s superstars were near unstoppable, they did not play the entirety of Sunday’s game, giving the Wizards a chance to work their way back into the contest. Despite Washington’s best efforts, the Nets managed to hold on and win 119-114.
While the game doesn’t mean a thing when it comes to the 2020-21 NBA standings, this preseason game was Steve Nash’s first taste of head coaching. More importantly, Nets fans finally got to see what their superstars look like together.
